Ken Hein

Kenneth W. Hein, MBA, SMP

Kenneth W. Hein is an accomplished corporate strategist and strategic marketing / brand building professional headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona.  He is a member of very select group of professionals who have been awarded the status of Certified Strategic Management Professional (SMP), by the Association for Strategic Planning. Since 1974, Ken has advised retailers, manufacturers, service providers, product designers and developers, private-investors, as well as senior executives and board members on specific decisions and implementation issues ranging from strategy development and implementation, to merchandising, or changing an organization’s culture and management methodology. 

Recognized by numerous business professionals as an extremely sound business strategist and marketing consultant, Ken has an impressive record of new product development and turning negative business performance into enviable business performance.  Ken is also sought after for his keen ability to analyze and develop the leadership capabilities of both junior and senior executives. This skill has, also, been used extensively as an adjunct faculty member of the Grand Canyon Universities’ Ken Blanchard School of Business Master’s in Business Administration program.

After serving in the U.S. Army as an infantry officer, Ken initiated his business career as a medical products specialist with Pfizer pharmaceuticals, being assigned to turnaround an underperforming key Midwest territory.  After successfully completing this assignment, and with a heart for challenges unique to the retail industry, Ken won a coveted position with the world’s premier greeting card company, Hallmark Cards.  Over the ensuing eleven years Ken was twice recognized as a district and national sales leader for Hallmark and, as a result, was elevated to a Product Marketing Manager’s position, accepting responsibility for all marketing matters for multiple product lines.

Since the late 1980′s Ken has gone on to serve clients as large and diverse as those representing the Fortune 100, to firms just beginning their entrepreneurial journey.  The industries represented by these firms include, aerospace, software, oil & gas, mass merchandising, communications, education, manufacturing, buildings materials, retail, and professional services.  Primarily, engaged for the benefits of his conceptual abilities in the analysis stage and the, subsequent, creation of actionable strategies, Ken has also assisted several client firms in their pursuit of debt and equity financing.

In addition to over three decades of significant breadth of business experience, Ken also brings his understanding of human behavior to all consultative engagements, as a certified Myers-Briggs facilitator.  By employing this tried, tested, and proven personality profile indicator, Ken has been able to assist all of his clients, who have expressed a desire to improve communications and performance at their firm. Ken has also served as an adjunct faculty member at Grand Canyon University, where he taught Strategic Management, Leadership, Organizational Behavior, International Marketing, and Marketing Management, in that institutions’ MBA and undergraduate programs.
